Peter R Hallock

Praise God in the holy temple

$2.60

An anthem for SATB mixed voices, congregation, trumpet, drum, tambourine, and cymbals

Music directors should use instruments available to themโ€”be it clapping to cover the drum or tambourine parts, or a different instrument in place of the trumpet part. So that language referencing God might be more inclusive, the editor has revised text as originally adapted and set by Hallock, using A Liturgical Psalter (Anglican Church of Canada, 2016) as a framework.

The congregation part for this work is extensiveโ€”perhaps making it unapproachable to the average congregation. It may be best to have the assembly sing only the first phrase and repeated โ€œPraise the Lordโ€ phrases near the end. However extensive a role the congregation takes, printed music should appear in the order of service and the congregation offered an opportunity to practice before the service. Note that lower menโ€™s voices always double the congregation part throughout; sometimes the lower womenโ€™s voices double the congregation part.

You must order at least 12 copies of this score. Instrumental and congregation parts are included with your order.
