2024 is the centenary of Peter Hallock’s birth, and we launched a bicoastal celebration of Saint Mark’s beloved musician, composer, and liturgist at festival concerts in person at Saint Mark’s Cathedral on February 24 & 25; an on-demand concert presentation is available now through March 23. The west coast concerts were made possible in part by The Peter R. Hallock Institute, Association of Anglican Musicians, Saint Mark’s Cathedral, Early Music Seattle, and Classical KING.
The festival concerts featured The Compline Choir under the direction of Jason Anderson, the Byrd Ensemble under the direction of Markdavin Obenza, and Seattle-based countertenor José Luis Muñoz, together with artists Page Smith (cello), Elizabeth C. D. Brown (lute), and Andrea Rojas Duroy (piano). Repertoire spanned from greats of the Renaissance like Thomas Tallis and John Sheppard to music of the late 20th and early 21stcenturies composers like Peter Hallock, Erin Aas, Nico Muhly, and Thomas Adès. See below for more information about the performers and to purchase tickets for the on-demand concert.
In addition, the Hallock Institute is encouraging churches and community groups to perform his compositions, whether it be a single title or multiple titles over the course of the program year, and to register works they are performing by clicking the button below:
