An anthem SATB mixed voices with divisi unaccompanied
The harmonic language used in this work, like many of Hallockโs earliest compositions, is adventuresomeโand not for the unprepared or under-rehearsed choir. The quasi-plainsong Alleluias beginning at measure 25 a hauntingly beautiful, but difficult to keep together rhythmically. The harmonic and rhythmic repose of the Alleluias in measures 30-33 make the effort to learn this piece all the more worthwhile. So that language referencing God might be more inclusive, the editor has further revised text as originally set by Hallock.
Lyrics
Behold, the tabernacle of God is with Godโs people,
and the spirit of God dwells within you.
For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
For the love of whom you do this day celebrate
the joys of the temple with the season of festivity.
Alleluia.
